Church of the New Jerusalem
New Jerusalem
The crenelated towers and turrets and soot-stained granite give the Church for the New Jerusalem at 2110 Chestnut St a highly romantic Gothic appearance. The red sandstone exterior of 32 South 22nd Street opposite has cut into it the legend "Anno Domini MDCCCLXXXVIII," a childlike mermaid and the heads of angels.
Just west of the church is a small north/south running street called Van Pelt. make a right and head N on Van Pelt. Cross Chestnut and turn to the left to see the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia.
