Statuary in the Square
Rittenhouse Square features several striking statues. These were purchased and installed by the Fairmount Park Art Association (now the Association for Public Art) beginning in the late 19th century.

Billy by artist Albert Laessle, was created in 1914 and installed in Fairmount park in 1919. Children have enjoyed sitting on it for a hundred years now.
Cornelia Van A. Chapin's Giant Frog was given to the city in 1941
Designed by artist Antoine-Louis Barye in 1832, Lion Crushing a Serpent was the first statue installed in Rittenhouse Square, back in 1892.
